Wet powder coating method for cast bullets
This is how I coat my lead cast bullets with powder coat. I never had much luck with the dry tumbling method so I tried and eventually came out with this. Many round down the barrel I decided to share it.
Have used this color a lot. on shiny metals it really pops and has depth
I've done the valve covers, the front 3 timing covers on my engine as well as the oil filter canister and my calipers with this translucent blue. (Argent Silver base coat used). Everyone at the car shows loves this color. Some of the above pics are mine
I learned the hard way that this truly is a transparent color. Any flaws in the base material will be visible. After a bit of research, I laid down a base coat of reflective chrome and got outstanding results. The translucent blue came alive over the reflective chrome and the finish is so glossy that it really is reflective.
We tried it on a 12" scrape of angle, Translucent Blue over Base Silver and when I pulled it out of the oven a guy had just come in to ask about doing his Yamaha Roadstar he saw to angle and contracted us to do his bike in it.
1st time I powder coated anything. Completely amazed at the outcome. Did a shift cable bracket with the blue over reflective chrome turned out great never paying someone to coat for me again.
This color is amazing and really shines after a base coat and a hot coat.
A great match to the blue annodizing used in the 80's on BMX bikes
