SHARKHIDE is an ideal long term protectant for aluminum, copper, brass, steel and fiberglass. It protects against stains, oxidation (rust), weathering, salt spray and pitting. The materials that make up SHARKHIDE Metal Protectant are a proprietary blend of many types of resins. These resins are then suspended in a blend of two different solvents. When applied to a surface, the solvents rapidly evaporate leaving the actual SHARKHIDE Metal Protectant behind. This forms an air tight film over any metal surface, and will protect against just about anything Mother Nature can throw at it.

Clean surface throughly with Eastwood's PRE Painting prep. If the surface is stained or oxidized, use an aluminum cleaner to remove the imperfections. To apply, simply use a clean soft white cotton cloth and saturate with Sharkhide and wipe surface area. Do not pour onto surface. See product label for more application instructions
Always wear appropriate eye, skin and respirtaory protection when using sharkhide. See MSDS for specific safety instructions Sharkhide is highly flammable.
I have used Sharkhide on my boat aluminum for several years. After polishing the surface I apply 2 coats letting dry in between coats. It does dull the surface a little. Kind of a satin coat. It would be better if it didn't do that. I usually re polish and re apply every year as the aluminum will slowly oxidize. It oxidizes after 1 to 2 uses without it. It is not the perfect product but is 100% better than leaving the surface bare. I don't know of anything that works better except possibly powder coating with clear. Then the part would have to be billet and not cast as cast will have air bubbles come out. Polished aluminum is tough to keep shiny.
This product is great!!!!! I have used it in the marine field for years.I use it on pontoon and aluminum boats to keep water and scum from staining and adhering to their surface. Its an easy product to use and lasts a long time. This is the only product I have found over the years that you can apply to aluminum that will honestly protect it from the elements.
Put this product on a set of JEGS Performance Sport Star Cast Aluminum Wheels about 4 years ago. The rims have been outside on the car for about a year now and were washed two weeks ago.
Another excellent product
I trust Eastwood to only offer products that work as advertised. Are they cheap? Yeah, NO.
Sharkhide is no exception. Only time will tell if the claims are true regarding the reapplication interval, but I don't think Eastwood would risk their reputation.
